Sarah Jane “Sadie” (Kappenstein) Bowman, 93, widow of William F. Bowman, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Frederick Living.

Born in Pottstown, Sarah was the daughter of the late Ernest and Esther (Schaeffer) Kappenstein, as well as the late Marian Bechtel, who was like a second mother to her.

Sarah was a graduate of Pottsgrove High School, where she enjoyed sports. After graduation, Sarah was a Girl Scout leader. She then spent many happy years caring for her home and raising her family.

Sarah was an active member of New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, served on the altar guild, taught Sunday School, and knit many prayer shawls.

She loved to bake, and was known for her pies. She enjoyed playing games, gardening, bowling, and was a master at jigsaw puzzles.

Sarah is survived by two daughters; Karen S. Watkins, wife of Frank; Diane L. Bealer; and one son, Mark W. Bowman, husband of Tina, as well as six grandchildren; Steven, husband of Erica; Kate, wife of Gavin; Laura; Ben; Madison, wife of Andrew; and Allison, and two great grandchildren; Avery and Parker.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah is predeceased by thirteen siblings: Ernest, Leroy, Robert, Gerald, Edward, Ralph, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Esther, Arlene, Doris, Richard, and Janice.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 10AM to 11AM at New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church 2941 Lutheran Rd., Gilbertsville, PA 19525. A memorial service will follow at 11AM.

Inurnment will be private.
