Laverne R. Maute

Laverne R. Maute

Laverne R. Maute, 92, husband of Joan E. (Conrad) Maute, passed away peacefully at the Lutheran Community at Telford on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Born in Pottstown, PA, Laverne was the son of the late Jacob and Elmeida (Renninger) Maute.

Laverne proudly served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 on the Submarine Tender Howard W. Gilmore. He enjoyed sharing stories of his time in the Navy with all who would listen. After the Navy, Laverne worked at Jones Motor in Spring City, PA, then the Pottstown Pipe Factory. Later, he became Building Supervisor at Muhlenberg High School and retired in 1997. Laverne was also a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Bechtelsville, PA.

Laverne adored his wife Joan, and they spent time together dancing, traveling, and enjoying nature. He loved working on small projects and spending time in his garden. Laverne was often seen riding around his house and the neighborhood on his lawn mower, many times with his grandsons in tow. He was a simple man who loved his family and did all he could to provide the best for them.

Laverne is survived by his loving wife Joan, with whom he shared almost 69 years of marriage. He is also survived by his two children: Keith Maute and Alison Todd, wife of David Todd; as well as two grandsons whom he cherished: Jacob and James Todd. Laverne was predeceased by a son, Eric Maute.

The family would like to thank The Lutheran Community at Telford for the loving care they provided “Pop” during the last four years of his life. The affection and kindness shown to Laverne and his family will always be appreciated. The family would also like to thank Ascend Hospice for their attentive care.

Services will be private at the request of the family
