Henry Hoffman

Henry E Hoffman, 89, widower of Mary Hoffman, of Reading PA passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Keystone Villa in Douglassville. Born in Pottstown, Henry started his working life at the family car dealership, pool company, and archery as well as a short time with Pottstown Plating Works after which he joined the army where he did his service to his country in a guided missile Battalion ending with an Honorable Discharge and an eagerness to marry the love of his life, Mary. Henry then started his career with the Firestone Tire and Rubber company working in Virginia and Canada, retiring after 30 years. Henry was a member of St Catherine of Sienna Church in Reading and over the years was heavily involved in the community volunteering at his Church, helping guide the youth at JR Achievers and Co founding a Woodstock Old timers Hockey Team in Woodstock, Ontario. During his retirement he was a lifeline to many in his community happily performing maintenance and chores for community members who needed help. Henry’s greatest passion was his wife Mary, his children and grandchildren being a very devoted grandfather even from miles away. Henry loved cars, coins, antiques, travelling, family history and cracking a cold one; however golf seemed to be his biggest frustration.

 

Henry is survived by two daughters and one Daughter in law : Stepanie Hoffman (Michael Smith); Felicia Roepman (Dan): son Henry Hoffman Jr. (Fran); Daughter in law Angela Hoffman and 6 grandchildren: John, Bailey, Dylan, Emelie, Dan, Shawn and many Nieces and Nephews. Henry is also predeceased and now together with his wife Mary Hoffman (ne Welsh); son John Hoffman and Brother Edward Hoffman.

A brief viewing will be held on Wednesday,  January 17, 2024 at 11AM at Morrell Funeral Home 124 W. Philadelphia ave. Boyertown,  PA 19512. Following the viewing there will be a time of sharing.

Special thanks all the staff at memory care Keystone Villa, Douglassville and the hospice nurses for all their compassionate and care for Henry and our family.

  1. Uncle Henry was such a light. His infectious smile and warm heart just made everyone feel comfortable and happy. He will surely be missed. Praying for the family during this time.
