GERALD LEROY RICHARD, beloved husband, father and pop pop, died peacefully at home, surrounded by those who loved him, on December 10, 2023. He was born the son of Robert Richard and Irene (Hoffman) Richard on September 4, 1942.
“Lefty”, as known by his close friends, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors spending time at his cabin in Potter County. He was a member of The Odd Fellows Boyertown Lodge #708. He loved playing cards with his numerous brothers and sisters and was adored by his children and grandchildren. He graduated from Boyertown High School in 1961. He worked as the Assistant Manager of the ACME in Boyertown for more than 40 years. He married the love of his life Sandra (Salaneck) Richard and they settled in Douglassville. They had recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
He was a member of St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Pottstown and the Odd Fellows Lodge in Boyertown. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren Laura, Brandon, Jeremy, Alyssa, Matthew, Gabby, Dylan, TJ, Gavin, Trevin, Tyler and Bella and 4 great grandchildren, Angelo, Owen, Kinsley and Micah.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Charles Richard. Surviving in addition to his wife Sandra (Salaneck) Richard are his daughter; Donna Minich, wife of Craig Minich of Boyertown, his son; Paul Richard, Husband of Erica Richard of Folsom, California and son; Todd Richard husband of Jessica Richard of Douglassville.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 9 AM until 10:20 AM at the Morrell Funeral Home, 124 W Philadelphia, Avenue Boyertown PA 19512. Visitation will be followed by a small ceremony by The Odd Fellows at 10:20 AM and a brief service at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at the St. Johns Greek Catholic Cemetery.

PS: I have many memories of times with Gerry. One that occurs to me now is the two times we played golf together some time in the “middle 1960’s”. I believe I needed two times as many strokes as Gerry did.

I so vividly remember going to the Acme on many occasions with my mother, Jean, and seeing his happy and smiling face. My mother so loved seeing him and him us. A fond memory! He always has a smile.

Gerry was an avid sportsman and had a smile and laugh that made everyone else smile. Many fond memories visiting the family when I was a teen and pre-teen. Most especially ice skating on the rink he installed. Rest in peace.
