Edwin T. Sugita

Edwin (Ed) T. Sugita, 86, of Zieglerville, PA, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at home with his family by his side after complications from pancreatic cancer.

Edwin was born on February 1, 1937, to Charles E. and Beatrice H. Sugita in Honolulu, HI. After graduating Roosevelt High School in 1955, he went on to study pharmacy at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. He continued to graduate school and earned a PhD in Pharmacy in 1963. Ed was recognized for many distinguished academic and ROTC achievements. He was a member of Kappa Psi Fraternity. In 1959 he married Gail Matsuno Sugita and had two children: Darrell and Brent.

He served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland. Following his military service, Edwin was a professor and then department chair of pharmacy at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He retired in 2002 and enjoyed his retirement by volunteering, golfing, playing tennis, traveling and spending time with his family.

Ed was predeceased by his sister Amy Sugita Jones and brother Richard Sugita. He is survived by his wife, Gail, brother, Kenneth (Gayle), sons, Darrell (Mary) and Brent (Sally), and two granddaughters, Mallory and Meredith.
