Patricia A. Laverty

Patricia A. (Cannell) Laverty, 86, wife of Donald Laverty, of Pottstown, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Manatawny Manor.

Born in Pottstown, Patricia was the daughter of the late George K. Cannell and Violet S. (Groff) Cannell.

Patricia was a graduate of North Coventry High School. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary at Laurel Locks Farms. She then went on to work retail at Kids Point of View before working in the clerical field at Visiting Nursing Association of Pottstown. Patricia worked there for twenty-five years until her retirement.

Patricia was an active member of Shenkel United Church of Christ in Pottstown. She enjoyed taking walks with her friends. She also enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening and tennis. Patricia was a Phillies and Red Sox fan. Later in life, she liked to watch Hallmark movies.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her three children: Vickie Laverty, Todd Laverty, Sr., husband of Michele, and Jill Laverty; as well as three grandchildren: T. Michael Laverty, Jr., husband of Samantha, Lenny Laverty, and Jack Laverty; and four great grandchildren: Bailey Laverty, Kaia Laverty, Todd Michael Laverty, III, and Kennedy Laverty. Patricia is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Patricia was predeceased by one grandson, Tyler Laverty, and one sister, Susie Mahr

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 10AM to 11AM at Shenkel United Church of Christ 1580 Shenkel Rd, Pottstown, PA 19465. A funeral service will follow at 11AM.

The service can be live streamed through Shenkel UCC YouTube page.

Burial will be in Shenkel UCC Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia’s memory to Shenkel UCC at the above address.

  4. Mom has been my American mom for a long time and the American grandmom for my 4 children, with home-made quilts for their births. Dating back from the early days of my friendship with her youngest, Jill, I´ve always known her as a warm, kind, loving and giving woman, who will be sadly missed. My thoughts go out to all who´ll also miss her.

  6. Sorry to her this sad news. I worked with Pat for many years at the Pottstown VNA. We shared a lot of stories and have great memories of those days. She was a wonderful coworker and friend. May our Lord gave her family comfort during this time.
