Henry A. Zajac

Henry Andrew Zajac, 93 of Gilbertsville, joined his wife, Mae, in Heaven on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 – two days before what would have been their 71st-wedding anniversary.  Born on October 26, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Jan and Staphania Zajac. He was raised in Gilbertsville on his family’s farm.  Henry graduated from Boyertown High School in 1948 where he was the president of his class and also of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Club.  He possessed a strong interest in agriculture and built his career around it.  In his early years, he worked for Agway, Inc. as an Area Farm Sales Manager helping farmers for over 34 years.  He was one of the first Certified Crop Inspectors in the state of Pennsylvania.  He then moved into a director level position in 1986 to manage Cumberland Valley Co-op, a Farmer’s Feed Co-op in Shippensburg, PA.  In 1994 he and his wife Mae moved back to Gilbertsville near the farm he grew up on and retired.

Henry had a green thumb which was evident in the large garden he had every year.  He grew wonderful fruits and vegetables that Mae would freeze and can and always had extra for neighbors and friends.  He enjoyed woodworking – making and restoring furniture in his workshop – while Mae worked on her quilts.  He was ingenious.  He could fix anything, make anything, and do anything. He liked his yard manicured and took pride in the way the farm and their home next to the farm looked.

Henry made his life with Mae.  They were married 70 years when Mae left him to be with God in October of last year.  They had four children – three are surviving – one son, Stephen –  husband of Teresa of Maple Glenn, a daughter, Jane of Myerstown, another daughter, Mary –   wife of Scott McQuinn of Middletown as well as a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Yoder of Pottstown.  Henry is pre-deceased by one son, Barry.  Also surviving are  five grandchildren: Ryan, Michael, and Stephanie Zajac, Emma McQuinn, and James Yoder –  all of whom he was very proud of and loved very much.

Services will be held at Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament 610 Pine Street, Bally, PA on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 12PM. Visitation will be from 11:30AM until 12PM.  Internment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg.
