Marvin M. Johnson, 84, widower of Delores Johnson, of Boyertown, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, surrounded by family.
Born in Lower Macungie Township, Marvin was the son of the late Elwood Johnson and Annie (Giles) Johnson.
Marvin worked for many years as a ribbon cutter at Bally Ribbon Mill where he eventually retired.
Most knew Marvin as Pappy. Pappy loved getting up at the crack of dawn to go out for breakfast. He liked watching the Phillies, and NASCAR. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, nature and walking in the woods.
Pappy, in his younger years, was a little league baseball coach and was involved with the boy scouts. He was a boy scout as a youth, a cub master as an adult, and in his retirement years, he was known as the troop Pappy.
Pappy was an avid storyteller; he would tell stories of his younger years. He would tell jokes and play a few on some unsuspecting bystanders.
If you ever saw Pappy at a wedding, you know he loved to dance. He loved to listen and sing to old country music and old time Rock N Roll.
Pappy also loved to drive. He loved taking long rides around the area and beyond, giving you a history lesson as you went.
Marvin is survived by one son: Robert M. Johnson, husband of Karen, and one daughter: Rita J. Kayhart, wife of Arthur. He is also survived by one granddaughter: Samantha J. Roberts, wife of Kenneth, and three grandsons: Trevor J. Johnson, husband of Jessica; Matthew A. Kayhart, husband of Abby; and Noah T. Kayhart, fiancée of Lauren. Also surviving is one sister: Chirlin R. Wittman, widow of Stanley, and one brother: Walter A. Johnson, husband of Mabel.
Marvin is predeceased by one brother, Carl Johnson, and one sister, Mabel Guldin.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 10AM to 11AM at Morrell Funeral Home 124 W. Philadelphia Ave Boyertown, PA 19512. A memorial service will begin immediately following at 11AM. Burial will be in Hill Church Cemetery.

Pappy would make everyone smile. Loved having him as a neighbor. We enjoyed his stories and his dry humor! We will miss seeing him outside. Our best to the whole family

I have so many loving memories of Uncle Marvin. His dry sense of humor when Rita and I got caught taking his truck and getting it stuck to trying to row a row boat to only go in complete circles. He always just laughed at us. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.

So sorry I am leaving this message so late. Strange…I was just thinking about Marvin the other day and then suddenly discover he had passed away. Marvin was a wonderful man and very kind. I worked with him for many years and have many fond memories. My condolences to the family.
