Barry M. Zajac

Barry M. Zajac, 67, husband of Elizabeth M. Yoder, passed away in Reading Hospital on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Born in Pottstown, Barry was the son of Henry Zajac and Mae A. (Rothenberger) Zajac.

Barry was a 1973 graduate of Souderton Area High School and the Montgomery County Vocational Technical School where he studied Welding. He started his career as a welder for Bethlehem Steel in Pottstown, PA .  When it closed in 1976, he accepted a position with Air Products as a welder where he earned his certification.  He moved on to work at several quarries in the area as a Quarry Plant Maintenance Technician for the next thirty years. However, his employment career was cut short by Diabetes. In 2016 he lost his foot and part of his leg to the disease and could no longer work. While most would have admitted defeat, Barry secured a prostheses and  worked out every day at the gym.  He was determined to carry on his life as normal as possible.  His next setback came in 2019 when he lost his other foot and part of his leg. Strong and determined, he got his second prostheses and continued at the gym until the pandemic.  Barry walked and drove – like everyone else – up until his death on Saturday.

Barry was a very hard worker…. and he worked hard for what he had.  So, it makes sense that in his spare time he liked to take care of his things…for example, he loved to clean and detail his car.  He also enjoyed gardening, but what he liked the most was spending time with friends and family – sharing life experiences and having fun.  Barry was mischievous and loved to joke around and have a good time.  He enjoyed Saturday night campfires, watching the Eagles and Phillies ballgames with friends and Sunday family dinners.  He was very proud of his son, Ryan, his abilities and  what he has accomplished in life.

Surviving in addition to his parents and spouse, is a son Ryan (Stephanie) Zajac and a stepson, James Yoder. He is also survived by one brother; Stephen (Theresa) Zajac and two sisters: Jane Zajac and Mary (Scott) McQuinn, a nephew, Michael Zajac, and nieces Sephanie Zajac and Emma McQuinn.

Family and friends will be received on June 17, 2022, from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.  A short memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00 pm at Morrell Funeral Home 124 W. Philadelphia Ave. Boyertown, PA 19512.
