Shirley D. Heydt

Shirley D. (Reichert) Heydt, 85, widow of James L. Heydt, Sr., of Boyertown, PA passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Sanatoga Center.  Born in New Berlinville, she was the daughter of the late Minnie (Clemmer) and Kermit Reichert.

Shirley retired from The American Belt Factory in New Berlinville, where she worked on the assembly line for many years.  She loved crocheting, getting together with her friends playing cards and dominos and also traveling.  Most of all, Shirley loved spending time with her family cooking, laughing, and creating lifelong memories.  Those who knew Shirley will remember her sweet nature and her devotion to her family.  She was also a member of  St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three children, Brenda, wife of Dennis Meitzler, James L. Heydt Jr., husband of Sharon Heydt and Brian Heydt; five grandchildren, Matthew Meitzler, husband of Krista, Michael Meitzler, Sarah Heydt, Andrea Heydt and Julia Heydt. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Lou, wife of Leroy Heisler.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA.   A viewing will be held from 10:00 – 11:00AM at the church prior to the service.  Burial will be in Hill Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Alzheimer’s – alz.org.

Morrell Funeral Home Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
