Shirley I. (Miller) Ziegenfuse, 92, widow of Harold A. Ziegenfuse, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA. Born in New Berlinville, Shirley was the daughter of the late Norman H. and Myrtle P. (Rhoads) Miller.
Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Boyertown High School. She was employed by the Boyertown Casket Company as well as the Sassman Clothing Factory as a seamstress. Her most recent job was within the Boyertown Area School District at Washington Elementary as the Kitchen Manager and Cook until her retirement in 1994.
Shirley was a member of St. Joseph’s Hill Church in Boyertown as well as St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gilbertsville. She was part of The Freedom Valley Girl Scouts Council for fifty years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed quality time with her grandchildren watching cartoons, building puzzles, and playing boardgames. Also, Shirley would often be heard sharing stories of childhood memories.
Shirley is survived by two daughters: Debra A. Houseknecht, wife of Howard C., and Pamela S. Little, wife of Todd A., as well as one son: Terry L. Ziegenfuse, husband of Emily L. She is also survived by two granddaughters: Amy and Carly, as well as five grandsons: Phillip, Jonathan, Mark, Austin, and Zachary, and three great grandchildren: Owen, Livia, and Molli. Shirley is also survived by one sister, Gloria (Lolli) Conrad, wife of Dennis and a sister-in-law, Ada Miller, widow of Marion.
Shirley is predeceased by one son, Mark A. Ziegenfuse as well as three brothers: Herman C. Miller, husband of Marian; Melvin Miller, husband of Betty; and Marion Miller. She is also predeceased by one sister Pauline Weller, wife of Herman.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, October 4, 2021, from 10 AM to 11 AM at St. John Hill United Church of Christ at 620 Hill Church Rd. Boyertown, PA 19512. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in Hill Church Cemetery.
