Carl F. Engel

Carl Frederick Engel passed away peacefully on May 3, 2020 after a short illness. Born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on September 25, 1928, he is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Beverly, his four children, Chris (Lori), Ann, Susan, and Curt (Maria), as well as his six grandchildren, Gene (Denae), Joshua, Emily, Olivia, Sofia, and Chloe, and two great-grandchildren Peyton and Aurora. Preceded in death by brother Henry, brother Max, sister Lotte, and granddaughter Alexandra. Carl joined the US Marines at age 17 and served over the next seven years. A graduate of Lafayette College with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Carl worked for various companies over the next three decades, retiring from Sperry Corporation in 1985. Throughout his career he travelled extensively worldwide, seizing the opportunity to visit Singapore, Tokyo, Paris, San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, Madrid, and Budapest, to name only a few. In retirement, he shared his passion for travel with his wife, Beverly, who had previously supported his career from home while raising their four children. He will be fondly remembered by his loved ones each time they enjoy Shoo-fly pie, Tastykakes, crème filled donuts, scrapple, pretzels, Lebanon bologna, and Hershey’s chocolate, a few of Carl’s favorite treats to share with his family. As his son Chris joked, “He never met a sweet he didn’t eat”.
