David D. Ellis, 71, husband of Sandra F. (Riegner) Ellis, of Boyertown, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at his residence.
Born in Reading, PA., he was the son of Robert H., widower of Emma R. (Shirey) Ellis.
David was a 1965 graduate of Boyertown High School. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was employed by U.S. Airways in Philadelphia and worked in fleet services from 1969 through 2005. He also worked at Redner’s Markets in Pottstown from 2005 through 2015.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post 471 of Boyertown where he was presently Adjutant and past Commander. He also was a member of the board of directors for Boyertown Area Youth baseball.
Also surviving are one brother, Robert W. Ellis and two sisters, Kathleen (Ellis) Echols and Bonnie (Ellis) Russ.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:30AM at Morrell Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Philadelphia Avenue, Boyertown, PA. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Sassamansville.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Boyertown Area Youth Baseball, P.O. Box 1982, Boyertown, PA 19512.

Blessings and sympathies to the family. Dave’s support and work with the Boyertown American Legion Baseball Team was unsurpassed. He will be greatly missed by all.
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dave. I worked as Dave’s relief in catering. To me he was known as Uncle Dave. He groomed me to take over his envoy job where I still work today. My prayers go out to his family. God Bless You Uncle Dave and thank you.
