Ardi L. Sands, 87, of Boyertown passed away peacefully on December 31, 2017. Ardi and his wife, Lenore E. (Houck) Sands were married on April 17, 1954 and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Born April 16, 1930 in Englesville, he was the son of the late J. Samuel Sands and Stella (Richard) Sands. Ardi served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boyertown. He was a skilled machinist working for Jacobs Aircraft and Atlantic Aviation. He retired from Bally Ribbon Mills and he also owned and operated the Congo Barber Shop. In his spare-time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and travelling. Ardi was a very accomplished do-it-yourself handyman.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one son, Brian M. Sands and Jennifer Spade of Bally; two sisters, Frances Doaty of Gilbertsville and Daisy Pihanich of Pottstown.
He was predeceased by one son, Timothy A. Sands and three sisters, Blanche Miller, Gloria Grisdale and Pauline Fine.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11AM at Morrell Funeral Home Inc., 124 West Philadelphia Avenue, Boyertown, PA. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Oley Cemetery Spangsville.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the Boyertown service unit of the Salvation Army, 409 South Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512.
