Shirley Fay Baus

Shirley Fay (Himmelwright) Baus, 88, widow of Russell W. Baus, of Oley, passed away at home on Thursday, April 13, 2023 surrounded by family.

Born in Freeburg, PA, Shirley was the daughter of the late William H. Himmelwright and Lottie M. (Roush) Himmelwright.

Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Freeburg High School. She worked at the shirt factory in Freeberg, and then went on to work at New Hanover Upper Frederick Elementary School as a food service manager from 1974 until her retirement in 2001.

Shirley was a member of St. Joseph’s Hill Church. She loved Elvis Presley, having shared the same birthdate and year as him. She also loved trips to the casino, cooking and baking. Shirley’s true love was her family. She always made sure her children and grandchildren were taken care of and had what they needed.

Shirley is survived by one daughter, Julie A. Frederick; one son, Darrell R. Baus, husband of Tammy; one grandson, Tyler S. Baus, husband of Valarie; two granddaughters, Haley M. Zareczky, wife of Cody and Miley M. Baus. Shirley is also survived by two great grandchildren, Michael J. Zareczky, and Amelia J. Baus, as well as one brother, William R. Himmelwright, and four sisters: Marjorie A. Freed, wife of Harley; Sally Ann Freed; Mary Lou Miller, wife of Larry “Butch”; and Karen E. Clayberger, wife of Colin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 9:30AM to 11AM at St. Joseph’s Hill Church 244 Koch Rd Boyertown, PA 19512.  Funeral service will follow at 11AM. Burial will be at Hill Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s name to St. Joseph’s Hill Church at the address above, to Friedens Lutheran Church at 1076 Memorial Highway Oley, PA, or to Bayada Hospice 1 W. Philadelphia Ave 4th floor Boyertown, PA 19512.
