H. Laverne Gresh, 92, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Ivy Nursing and Rehabilitation in Norristown.

Born in Colebrookdale, Laverne was the son of the late Clarence A and Clara H. (Yerger) Gresh.

Laverne was a 1951 graduate of Boyertown Area High School and studied at Kings College in New York.

Laverne served in the US Army where he was a lineman stationed in Germany.

Laverne was a minor league baseball player. He was nicknamed Smoke because of his fastball. He played baseball for Gablesville in later years.

Laverne is survived by his nephew, Terry O’ Connor, husband of Mae, and their children Theresa Sgarlatta, wife of Tony; Rachel Eshbach, wife of Doug; and Terry O’Connor, Jr.; as well as seven great-great nieces and nephews.

Laverne was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette O’Connor.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 10AM to 11AM at Morrell Funeral Home 124 W. Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown, PA 19512. A funeral service will follow at 11AM.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
