Dennis M. Hess, 81, husband of Ruth (Quillman) Hess, of Gilbertsville, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Pottstown Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born in Boyertown, Dennis was the son of the late Oscar Hess and Katie (Dierolf) Hess.
Dennis worked for twenty-eight years for Boyertown Casket Company as a grinder until they closed. He then worked at Bally Block until his retirement.
Dennis enjoyed sports, he especially liked to watch Nascar racing and baseball.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter, Christine Hess. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Erica Hess; Crystal Hess; Jamie Hess, fiancée of Jennie Moyer; Cody Hess; Brandy Flood; Nathan Flood, husband of Samantha; and Chelsea Cook; as well as two sisters: Bernice Fronheiser; and Gerline Yoder.
Dennis is predeceased by one son, Donald Hess; one brother, Laverne; and two sisters, Josephine, and Anna.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 10AM to 11AM at Morrell Funeral Home 124 W. Philadelphia Ave. Boyertown, PA 19512. A funeral service will follow at 11AM.
Burial will be in Hill Church Cemetery.
So sorry to hear of Dennis’ passing. We worked together a number of years at Bally Block and would run into each other occasionally when he was out for his walks and I was playing softball at New Hanover Lutheran. Last time we talked I asked him how he was doing. I remember him telling me “not too good”.
