“Rev. 2:10 Be faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.”

Ernest W. Seyler, age 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

Ernie was born in Boyertown, Earl Twp., a son of the late Paul and Alice (Leh) Seyler. He was the husband of Shirley (Griesemer). They were married June 19, 1954, being together 56 years until her passing in 2010.

Surviving are his son and daughter in law, Terry and Karen Seyler; his son in law, Earl “Butch” Gamler; two grandsons, Michael (Sue) Gamler; and Eric (Kim) Seyler; three great granddaughters, Autumn Gamler, Emma Seyler, and Anna Seyler. Ernie is also survived by his long-time best friend, Kenneth Kulp, and Ernie’s companion, Kathy Reinert.

Also surviving are his sister, Edith Krause, and brothers, Ammon (Joan) Seyler, and Curtis (Betty) Seyler, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ernie’s family was very important to him.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ernie is predeceased by his precious daughter, Theresa Gamler; his brothers Paul Seyler, Clarence Seyler, and Dennis Seyler, as well as his sisters, Sally Weil, and Alice Sterner.

Ernie was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Hill Lutheran Church, Boyertown, where he and his wife were very active.

He was also a life member of Pikeville Sportsmen’s Association and Gablesville Athletic Association.

In his childhood, being an excellent student, Ernie attended Cleaver School House, a one room school, until 8th grade, after which he rode his bike five miles to complete his education at Boyertown High School.

As a young man, Ernie worked at the former Funk Fruit Farm in Boyertown. His career path took him to the former Boyertown Auto Body Works, where he worked for many years in the paint department. After it’s closing, he worked as a parts delivery man.

Ernie proudly and honorably served his country in the National Guard out of Indiantown Gap.

Ernie’s passion was deer hunting, where he spent many hours in his deer blind called “The Outhouse”. He enjoyed his hunting expeditions to the Appalachian Trail Area in Hamburg, with his son, cousins, and friends, as well as his hunting cabin in Sullivan County.

Everyone loved Ernie’s sense of humor and he loved to make people happy. He will be missed very much, but we know he is in his Heavenly home, safe in the arms of Jesus.

Services will be private for his friends and family.
