Franklin J. Schlegel, 90, husband of Elizabeth (Fox) Schlegel, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Reading Hospital.

Born in East Greenville, Franklin was the son of the late Frank H. Schlegel and Elva K. (Jacob) Schlegel.

Franklin was a 1948 graduate of Boyertown High School. He worked as a farmer; he was also a school bus driver for Boyertown School District for almost fifty years.

Franklin was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ in Barto. He loved to bowl, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Franklin and his wife, Elizabeth, who were married on January 5, 1952, just celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary.

In addition to his wife, Franklin is survived by two sons: Franklin (Ted) Schlegel, husband of Valerie, and Brian Schlegel, husband of Stephanie, as well as one daughter; Lori Ann Moser, wife of Steven. Franklin is also survived by six grandchildren: Diane, Matthew, Michelle, Mark, Wesley, and Maria, as well as eleven great grandchildren with one more on the way.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 11 AM at Calvary UCC 1231 Route 100, Barto, PA 19504. Friends and family will be received from 10AM to 11AM prior at the church. Burial will be private at a later date.
