Zoe Keck

Zoe Keck

The Keck family sadly announces the passing of Zoe Francis Schurz Keck, 70, of Boyertown on March 15, 2023.  A beloved wife, mother, teacher, sister, and friend, Zoe passed peacefully in her sleep having lived and struggled for many years with Parkinson’s disease.

Zoe was born July 31, 1952, in Easton, PA, and attended Easton Area High School.  There, she met her husband of 52 years, Lindsey.  Zoe and Lindsey married when they were 18 and attended Middlebury College together.  Upon graduation, they moved back to the Easton area.  After several years in the Easton area, they later pursued their dreams of small family farm life in Boyertown, where they raised their six children.

With nature and animals, Zoe was always home.  In Boyertown, Zoe’s greatest joy was in the daily tending of the animals and children, often more than her own when dinner time came around.  Her generous heart cared for all around her, and was further baked into the bread she loved making and the gardens she cultivated.

In 2003, Zoe took on another love, teaching.  After completing her teaching degree, Zoe taught German and history at Boyertown High School for 11 years from 2003 to 2014.  She enjoyed student trips to Germany for immersive language study.   She also loved teaching water aerobics; she was a familiar face for many years at the Boyertown YMCA.  Her cheerful, energetic smile and positive outlook on life lifted the spirits of many.

Zoe is survived by her husband, Lindsey Keck, her children Kate Norton, Maggie Diamond-Stanic, Ben Keck, Andy Keck, Molly Schad, and Johanna Keck, and seven grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings Sarah Henrich, Daniel Schurz, and Victoria Randlett.

A memorial celebrating Zoe’s life will be held on April 29th, 2023 at 1:00 pm with light refreshments and fellowship to follow, venues to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, please, in Zoe’s honor, hug your kids, go outside and enjoy the sunshine, be kind, and extend someone extra grace today.

  4. The depth of sadness I feel for the Keck Family is immense. I have fond memories of the entire family. My heart breaks for them all.
Prayers for God to heal your hearts and hold you close during your time of grief. Much love to everyone.❤️🙏🙏🙏❤️

  5. To all the Keck family, my sympathies to you for such a monumental loss. I confess I lost track of your Mom when I left Boyertown, but she was one of my favorite people during the final stretch of my time at Boyertown. You may remember that she was my long-term sub for about 2 months in 2000. We met every day that she taught my classes, on HER orders and at her insistence. She did not want to shortchange the students, and stood as the most conscientious person I think I have ever met.

I also remember fondly my interactions with the Keck children. I did not know all of you equally well, but I really did enjoy my time with the Keck children, either in the classroom or, in Ben’s case, on the football field.

Please lean on each other, and keep an eye out for Dad. People like your mom are rare, and learning to live without her will be quite a challenge.

God Bless you all. I will ask for healing and comfort for you in my prayers.
